Mark Rendón’s Campaign for State Assembly Gains Momentum Amidst Steady Stream of Endorsements

Berkeley, CA – August 31, 2026

The campaign for Mark Rendón, candidate for State Assembly AD-14, is gaining momentum amidst multiple endorsements from progressive organizations and notable figures. 

Several Commissioners of the Berkeley Rent Board, including Soli Alpert, the Rent Board chair, and Ida Martinac, endorsed Rendón for his stances on social housing and strong support for renters’ protections. In addition, Rendón received an endorsement from Margo Smith, a former Democratic challenger of the incumbent, Buffy Wicks, in 2024.

This follows formal endorsements by the Green Party of Alameda County, the Peace & Freedom Party, and Our Revolution East Bay. Rendón was also recommended by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), East Bay, and commented “I am grateful for the support and endorsements of these organizations and local leaders.”

Assembly District 14 which includes Alameda County and western Contra Costa County, including Berkeley, Richmond, El Cerrito, and San Pablo, has a progressive voter base and a long history of movements in support of labor, environmental and social reforms. 

Rendón noted, “We expect  to gain the support of even more local and regional organizations, by building a progressive coalition across the East Bay to decisively carry our campaign through Election Day.”
